Your New Fave Comic Artist: Alabaster

by:   |   Nov 18 2013

Currently diggin’ on these pen-and-ink panels from Ridgewood, Queens-based artist/cartoonist Alabaster. This SVA graduate’s main focus is narrative sequential work, but she also works in printmaking and book arts. In 2010, Hic and Hoc published her 60-page book The Complete Talamaroo, and now she’s in the process of self-publishing her own series. Alabster’s drawing style has a nice balance of  simple-yet-confident line work that works well with her sweet-and-smart storytelling. She’s definitely one to keep an eye on, and I have a sneaking suspicion that as soon as the Japanese discover her work, things are really going to explode for her. To see more of her awesome work, head right over here.
